Appointments

LAMARTINE CONSEIL will enhance its international business law practice as a new dedicated team is joining the firm

Paris, 29th April 2024 – Lamartine Conseil, France’s leading M&A and private equity law firm in the Small & MidCap markets, is acquiring a team dedicated to the practice of international business law: cross-border transactions and M&A, international arbitration and economic law.

The mandate of the new 3-lawyer team is to strengthen Lamartine’s legal practice with respect to cross-border M&A transactions, international arbitration and general commercial law. Relying therefor on a unique international business law know-how, with the benefit of a long-standing experience in France and abroad (European Union, North-America & Middle East), as well as a solid international client base.

A member of the Paris and Quebec Bars, Serge GRAVEL joins Lamartine Conseil with a solid expertise in international arbitration and cross-border acquisition transactions. His extensive experience in international investment and finance will strengthen the firm’s international transactional practice. With respect to international arbitration, he will be co-leading the team led until now by Rémi HANACHOWICZ, drawing on his previous roles within the international business community (such as BIAC/OECD, and the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce, among others), as well as his past work as counsel, legal adviser, sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator or mediator, which will be key assets for cases handled by the firm. He also has extensive experience in international investment and finance (particularly in the European Union, North-America and the Middle East). Moreover, he provides services in both French and English and deals with cases involving both civil law and common law. After having studied at the University of Montreal, Harvard Law School, the Graduate Institute of International Studies of Geneva, and the University of Paris Pantheon-Assas, Serge has practised law over the years with a number of North American law firms, including Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton, Ogilvy Renault and Fasken Martineau.

In addition to the cross-border experience developed with Serge, Anne GRANGER has a widely recognized expertise in competition, distribution and consumer law which she has developed mainly with North American enterprises. She assists her clients with the structuring of their distribution networks and the marketing of their products. She is regularly involved in the development of compliance programs, audits of restrictive competition practices, and the monitoring of cases involving compensation for damage resulting from anti-competitive practices. Her international experience in these areas will strengthen the firm’s “Contracts, Distribution and Competition” expertise, which has been led by Benoît PHILIPPE since 2019. In addition, Anne is often involved in cross-border transactions and international arbitration, particularly concerning business sectors such as chemicals and cosmetics, hotels and restaurants, wineries, telecoms and medias. Anne holds a Master II degree in Private International Law and International Trade Law from the University of Paris I Pantheon-Sorbonne. Anne previously worked for Salès, Vincent & Georges and Fasken Martineau. Serge and Anne have been practising law together for more than three decades. Among other things, they built up their cross-border practice within a firm they co-founded, known as Gravel, Otto & Associés, mainly between 1998 and 2009.

They now join Lamartine Conseil along with Rathana DANH SANG, who has been working with them since 2019. Rathana holds a Master II degree in Litigation, Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution from the University of Paris Pantheon-Assas and a Master II degree in International Economic Relations Law from the University of Cergy-Pontoise.

With those additions, Lamartine Conseil now has 26 partners and nearly 120 professionals based in Paris, Lyon, Aix-Marseille, Bordeaux, Nantes and Lille.
